Congratulations to our girls who retained the South Premier football title today following a win over Bruree NS.
The final took place in Martinstown and pupils from second class to sixth class joined a good number of parents to support the girls.
The first half saw end-to-end action for the initial stages with a vital save by Neala in the opening seconds denying Bruree a dream start. Then a sustained spell of pressure, with scores from Sadhbh, Lucy, Carley, Lily and Lucie started to give Herbertstown a lead. With almost the last kick of the first half however, Bruree got a goal to give a half time score of Herbertstown 3.02 Bruree 0.02.
Playing with the wind in the second half, Herbertstown started to pull away, with scores from Carley, Lucie and Sadhbh from propelling the team to victory.
Afterwards, referee Ger Murnane presented the cup to our captain.
This is the fourth Premier title in a row for the school which is a tremendous achievement.
