The boys defeated Galbally NS in the first round to set up a winner-takes-all clash with the reigning champions, Athlacca NS.
Herbertstown and Athlacca played out a great contest with Athlacca shading it on a scoreline of 2.04 to 1.04.
Well done to the boys and their coach Mr Franklin. They still have the INTO Mini 7s county final to look forward to in November.

Herbertstown NS has been very lucky to secure a place on the Gaelic Time pilot programme which is being run by Limerick Coaching and Games.
Gaelic Time offers schools and teachers access to free resources, training and equipment, which support the teaching of enjoyable, safe and inclusive GAA activities to primary school children. It was developed by the GAA in conjunction with DCU and is being rolled out in 14 counties.
Herbertstown NS is one of only two schools in Limerick who are part of the pilot.
Congratulations to our boys’ football team who defeated Knockainey NS today in Herbertstown to claim the South INTO Mini 7s title. The boys led from start to finish with a very impressive display of score taking. This is a first 7s title in either football or hurling for a boys’ team in the school.

Our girls made a tremendous effort to retain the Mini 7s title they won last year. There were three girls teams taking part. In the first game, Herbertstown had a narrow loss to Ballylanders NS. The second game saw Ballylanders NS and Knockainey NS play out a draw. In the final game, Herbertstown defeated Knockainey NS. The results meant that Ballylanders were the overall winners with Herbertstown NS finishing as runners up.

Well done to all who played today.
Third and Fourth class took part in a very enjoyable online workshop where they learned about the Hunt Museum and the life and work of John Hunt and his wife Gertrude.
The workshop gave an introduction to the Hunt Museum and its collection. They learned about an important figure in local history and began exploring themes of archaeology, collecting and heritage.
This school received a grant in 2021 to implement initiatives aimed at addressing the digital divide and support our learners at risk of educational disadvantage as a consequence, as part of the Irish National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) a project under the Recovery and Resilience Facility funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU.
This funding was used to contribute towards the cost of a number of valued items within the school, including ipads and digital whiteboards. The school was also able to supplement the school’s digital equipment with the purchase of items like audio recording devices.
The funding was also used to offset costs associated with subscriptions to online platforms like Mathletics and Accelerated Reader.
We were very grateful to receive this funding and our pupils have certainly benefited from the initiative.

A huge thank you to St Ailbe’s Credit Union who have kindly donated €5000 to our school fundraiser from the Community Development Fund.
We are incredibly grateful for their generosity and support of our school. We have a great relationship with our local Credit Union, with Sammy Stamps every Friday and sponsorship of our school jerseys in recent years. Thank you very much to all the committee.
The hosts Herbertstown NS were joined by neighbours Knockainey NS and Hospital NS along with newcomers The Monastery School from Tipperary Town.
In round 1, Hospital NS produced a strong second half performance to pull away from Herbertstown NS. On pitch 2, Knockainey got off to a strong start with a good win over The Monastery.
In round 2, Knockainey continued winning ways by beating the hosts while Hospital got their second win over The Monastery.
Round 3 only saw one game being played as Hospital and Knockainey had qualified for the final. Herbertstown and The Monastery played out a great game of end to end action.
Hospital NS, who have taken part in all 10 of the tournaments to date, were looking for their first win and looked in pole position to do so heading into the final minutes of the game. However, Knockainey NS struck a goal from a free to bring the game to extra time.
Knockainey were awarded a penalty early in extra time and after this was emphatically drilled to the net they did not look back and finished strongly to retain their title.
Congratulations to Knockainey NS and thank you to everyone who supported our tournament.
