South Limerick – Hurling & Camogie
Well done to Gearóid, Ellie and Emily who represented the school on South Limerick teams.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be for either the South boys or girls in the Mackey Cup or Neville Cup but it is a fantastic achievement to play for the South team and Gearóid, Ellie and Emily should be very proud of themselves.

FAI Primary 5s – Girls Through to County Final
Our girls’ team were in action in the County semi-finals of the FAI Primary 5s tournament in Corbally earlier today.
In their first game, the team played very well and secured a 5-1 win over Patrickswell NS.
In the second game, an early goal for Dromcollogher NS put them in a good position. Herbertstown had a large amount of possession and were finally rewarded with a goal with around 2 minutes to go. At this stage, our girls were perhaps the most likely to go on and win the game but Dromcollogher made a fast break and got the all important goal to give them the win.
In the final game of the group, Patrickswell beat Dromcollogher NS 3-1.
With all teams tied on 1 win each scoring difference was used to decide the top team and fortunately our good win in the first game saw Herbertstown qualifying for the county final. Well done girls.
Well done to the team for their great performances over both days in Corbally.

Munster Olympic Handball Finals
Well done to our girls who narrowly lost the Munster Olympic Handball Final by 1 goal today in Cork.
There was an early start for the girls who left Herbertstown before 8am to travel to the Neptune Stadium in Cork City for the Munster Olympic Handball Finals. Herbertstown NS were representing Limerick having won the county final earlier this year.
In the first game, the girls defeated the Kerry champions, Castledrum Ns, 8 goals to 4.
In the second game, Herbertstown defeated the Cork champions, Shandrum NS, 9 goals to 8.
In the final group game, Herbertstown beat Tipperary champions Lisvernane NS 10 goals to 6.
This set up a semi-final where the first placed team in the group (Herbertstown) would play the 4th placed team (Castledrum). The girls played very well and edged a close game by 1 goal.
In the final, the girls met Lisvernane NS once again. The Tipperary champions got the best start they could have hoped for with 3 quick-fire goals and at half time we were trailing 5 goals to 2. Our girls showed tremendous heart and determination to score 4 second half goals but just ran out of time and ended up losing by a single goal, 7 – 6.
They were very unlucky to miss out on the title having played so well over the course of the full day and were fantastic ambassadors for their school & county.

Fairtrade Friday
Herbertstown NS held a Fairtrade Friday which encouraged children to look for products with the Fairtrade logo.
There were also Fairtrade themed activities and lessons in each classroom and pupils were asked to bring in Fairtrade products or wrappers to school if possible.

John the Baptist CS Munster Winners Visit School
The Munster U17 B championship winning side from John the Baptist CS visited the school this morning.
It was terrific to have the team visit the school, especially as we had three past pupils who were part of the winning team and panel.

Indoor Hurling & Camogie
Well done to our boys and girls who played in the Allianz South Limerick indoor camogie and hurling blitzes recently in Martinstown.
