Well done to Seán who played with the Limerick Primary Game football team in Pairc Uí Chaoimh on Sunday.

Congratulations to everyone involved in South Limerick’s win in the Mackey Cup yesterday. The South defeated Limerick City in the semi-final and then West Limerick in the final by a soliditary point.
Special congratulations to Fionn from Herbertstown NS who played a crucial role in the win.
In the first round, the boys defeated Tipperary’s Lisvernane NS 7-6. In the second round, they had two goals to spare over Castledrum NS from Kerry, 6-4.
This set up a Munster Final with Crosshaven NS from Cork. Anyone present in the Neptune Stadium was treated to an excellent game of end-to-end handball, with the lead exchanging many times throughout the game. With a little over a minute left, our team were winning by a goal. Crosshaven scored and it looked like extra time was going to be needed but the Cork team managed to sneak a goal with the final play of the game to take the win. Crosshaven NS 8 Herbertstown NS 7.
Our boys were fantastic throughout the day and can hold their heads up high as one of the best teams in Munster.
The boys had qualified for the county finals having come through a qualifying round before Christmas.
In the first game, they defeated Croom NS by 6 goals to 3. Next up was Scoil Dean Cussen, where the boys had 2 goals to spare, 7-5. The final group game was against our neighbours Hospital NS and this game went right down to the wire, with only 1 goal separating the teams at the end, 5-4.
This set up a final between Herbertstown and Croom. Our boys raced ahead, going 3-0 up in the first few minutes. But by half time, the game had been turned on its head as Croom scored 4 unanswered goals to take a 1 goal lead into the break. Herbertstown showed great composure to go out in the second half and retake the lead before Croom levelled to force extra time.
Both teams had chances during extra time but some outstanding saves by the goalkeepers at either end were keeping the game in the balance. It was a superb Herbertstown breakaway team goal which gave them the all important advantage. Croom had one last shot which blazed over the bar before the celebrations could begin for the boys in Maroon.
They will now go forward to represent Limerick at the Munster Finals in the Neptune Stadium, Cork on March 12th.
Well done boys!
It was lovely to have the famous cup during Christmas week and it was a great reminder of the wonderful year the Limerick hurlers gave us in 2023.
An especially great occasion for both of our infant classes as it was their first time having the Liam MacCarthy Cup at the school.
Congratulations to our boys’ team who qualified for the county finals in Olympic Handball.
Wins over Hospital NS, Kilbehenny NS and Caherline NS yesterday saw them qualify top of their group.
Seán and Fionn played for the boys football team who lost the Sarsfield Cup semi-final to Limerick City. Mr. Franklin was a coach with this team also.
Róisín played on the South Larkin team that lost the Larkin Shield final in the Gaelic Grounds.
The game was played in difficult conditions and at half time Herbertstown were in front by one point. However, aided by a strong wind in the second half, Monaleen were able to edge in front and then held on for the win.
Well done to our team who were appearing in the county semi-final for a second year in a row which is a massive achievement.
