Herbertstown NS Pupils Represent South Limerick

The Mackey Cup and Neville Cup semi-finals took place today in Rathkeale. The competitions were last played in 2019.

In the camogie, South Limerick emerged as winners in a closely fought game with East Limerick. Well done to Ms Mann who is part of the management of the team and to our pupils Molly and Sinéad who played key roles in today’s victory. The South will now play the West on Thursday in the TUS Gaelic Grounds and we send the team every best wish in the final.

The South Limerick boys unfortunately met a very strong East Limerick team in the Mackey Cup semi-final and exited the championship on a scoreline of 6.09 to 3.03. However, we are very proud of Ciarán, David and Darragh who represented the school on the South team, as strong a representation on a South team as the school has ever had.

South Retain Mackey Cup

On Tuesday evening South Limerick added the Mackey Cup to the Neville Cup won last week in Páirc na nGael.

Victories over East Limerick in the semi-final and West Limerick in the title ensured the Mackey Cup remained in the South for a second year in a row. Well done to Jack, Ross and everyone involved!

Mackey Cup returns to the South

Congratulations to Seán Murnane and Aaron Hanley who played on the South Limerick team which won the Mackey Cup in the Gaelic Grounds recently. The boys played in both the semi-final (where the South defeated the East) and final (where the South edged a close game with the City).

They join a select group of past pupils of the school with Mackey Cup medals. (that group includes Killian O’Shea, Oisín O’Grady, Dermot Breen and Mike Bermingham)

If anyone knows of other past pupils who have won Mackey Cup medals, we would love to give them a mention here.
