Anthony Baggott Cup 2025

Knockainey NS retained the Anthony Baggott Cup on the occasion of the 10th staging of the tournament.

The hosts Herbertstown NS were joined by neighbours Knockainey NS and Hospital NS along with newcomers The Monastery School from Tipperary Town.

In round 1, Hospital NS produced a strong second half performance to pull away from Herbertstown NS. On pitch 2, Knockainey got off to a strong start with a good win over The Monastery.

In round 2, Knockainey continued winning ways by beating the hosts while Hospital got their second win over The Monastery.

Round 3 only saw one game being played as Hospital and Knockainey had qualified for the final. Herbertstown and The Monastery played out a great game of end to end action.

Final

Hospital NS, who have taken part in all 10 of the tournaments to date, were looking for their first win and looked in pole position to do so heading into the final minutes of the game. However, Knockainey NS struck a goal from a free to bring the game to extra time.

Knockainey were awarded a penalty early in extra time and after this was emphatically drilled to the net they did not look back and finished strongly to retain their title.

Congratulations to Knockainey NS and thank you to everyone who supported our tournament.
