Second class had a great afternoon being detectives around the school grounds. They discovered many rocks, stones, soil samples, flowers, bugs, leaves and even a feather!!

A month of achievements for 1st/2nd Class
A fun filled first month back with birthdays, medals and fantastic achievements in the First and Second room.
Sevens Football
Our GAA season kicked off this week with both our boys and girls competing in the INTO Football Sevens.
On Tuesday, our boys team put up many good performances but met strong opposition in the form of Hospital NS and Bruree NS. They are now preparing for their 11 a side competition next week.
Our girls competed against Hospital NS, Bruree NS and Knocklong NS on Wednesday and, thanks to three victories, they emerged from the group as winners. They will now go forward to represent the South in the County finals.
Well done to all involved!
Miss Davis’ class welcome new pets
A warm welcome to Ronaldo and Bubbles, the two pets of First and Second Class. Many thanks to all children who helped with the naming ceremony.
Hospital-Herbertstown Bord na Nóg visitors
Sincere thanks to Shane Markham and Padraig O’ Dea from Hospital-Herbertstown Bord Na Nóg, who visited the Junior classes today and presented the school with hurleys, footballs and sliotars.

Herbertstown NS joined schools around the world today in celebrating the life & work of Roald Dahl.
Pupils brought in their favourite books and took part in PHIZZ-WHIZZING activities throughout the day!

All Ireland Minor Hurling Final
Herbertstown NS would like to wish past pupil Conor O’Grady and the Limerick minor hurling team the best of luck in the All Ireland minor hurling final against neighbours Tipperary.
Conor captained the school to a south title during his time in Herbertstown NS and visited the school last year to promote Gaelic Games. He bids to become the first player from Herbertstown to collect an All Ireland minor hurling medal since J.J. Bresnan in 1958. Bresnan played at full back on that Limerick team which defeated Galway.
Young Whistler in Croke Park
Herbertstown NS were represented in Croke Park on Sunday last by Adam who was the ‘Young Whistler’ on duty for the INTO Cumann na mBunscol GAA Respect Exhibition Go Games. Well done Adam!
The exhibition game took place during half time in the All Ireland minor hurling semi-final between Limerick and Dublin. Limerick, who have Herbertstown NS past pupil Conor O’Grady in their panel, emerged victorious and will now compete in the final in September.
