Larkin Shield

Massive congratulations to our pupils Sadhbh and Jocelyn who were part of the South Limerick team who won the Larkin Shield last evening in the Gaelic Grounds.

The South team defeated the East in a very close final on a score of 2.00 to 4 points.

Four Herbertstown Boys Represent South Limerick

Well done to our four representatives on the South Limerick panel who were narrowly defeated by Limerick City in the semi-final of the Sarsfield Cup.

It’s rare to have such a high representation from one school and this illustrates the ability of our pupils who made the team.

Well done also to Mr Franklin who did a lot of work coaching and preparing the team.

County Football semi-final

Hard luck to our girls who were defeated in the semi-final of the Celtic Image Shield in Rathkeale.

The girls gave a very spirited performance but met a strong Lisnagry panel who were the better team on the day. The girls can hold their heads up high, being easily the smallest school at that stage of the competition and for their fantastic record of the county semi-final for a fourth year in a row.

Fourth South Premier Title in a row for Herbertstown Girls

Congratulations to our girls who retained the South Premier football title today following a win over Bruree NS.

The final took place in Martinstown and pupils from second class to sixth class joined a good number of parents to support the girls.

The first half saw end-to-end action for the initial stages with a vital save by Neala in the opening seconds denying Bruree a dream start. Then a sustained spell of pressure, with scores from Sadhbh, Lucy, Carley, Lily and Lucie started to give Herbertstown a lead. With almost the last kick of the first half however, Bruree got a goal to give a half time score of Herbertstown 3.02 Bruree 2.02.

Playing with the wind in the second half, Herbertstown started to pull away, with scores from Carley, Lucie and Sadhbh propelling the team to victory.

Afterwards, referee Ger Murnane presented the cup to our captain.

This is the fourth Premier title in a row for the school which is a tremendous achievement.

Gaelic Time

Our Junior & Senior Infants and 1st & 2nd Class are up and running in the Gaelic Time pilot programme and it has been a lot of fun so far.

Thank you to Limerick GAA Coaching and Games for this super opportunity.

Boys Finish Runners-up in Roinn B Football

Well done to our boys who were in South Limerick Cumann na mBunscol action yesterday.

The boys defeated Galbally NS in the first round to set up a winner-takes-all clash with the reigning champions, Athlacca NS.

Herbertstown and Athlacca played out a great contest with Athlacca shading it on a scoreline of 2.04 to 1.04.

Well done to the boys and their coach Mr Franklin. They still have the INTO Mini 7s county final to look forward to in November.
