Herbertstown NS entered 4 teams in the Credit Union Quiz last night, two in the U13 category and two in the U11 category.
Each performed very well with our U13 teams placing second and sixth. Our U11 teams occupied the first and third positions at the end of the evening so the winning U11 team now go forward to the next stage which takes place later this month.

Congratulations to all our boys and girls on their great performances.
The event takes place on Saturday May 2nd. In recent years we have had some superb numbers participating in this event with almost 50 pupils taking part last year. Each entrant will receive a tshirt and finishers medal. Places in each wave are limited to 1000 entries.
The school receives €5 from every entry so any support would be greatly appreciated.

Herbertstown NS is shortlisted in Category 4, Promotion of Gaelic Games and Culture and category 6, Small School of the Year.
The entry in category 4 was in the form of a video and the category 6 entry was in book format.
Well done to all the pupils and staff in the school for all their hard work on the projects and their continuing support of Gaelic Games. The winners will be announced at a banquet in Thurles on Friday March 6th.

The boys lost to a strong Hospital NS side in the opening game but followed this with a draw against Bruree NS and wins against Ballylanders NS and Athlacca NS. Well done boys.
Attention now turns to the camogie which takes place next Tuesday.
The pupils of 4th & 5th class had great fun investigating friction using matchbox cars.
The children used a ramp to launch the car and measured the distance it travelled on different surfaces. They also explored the classroom to look for textures which were rough or smooth.
